As the sun rises over the bluff, golden light pours across the sanctuary grounds, touching the tops of trees and warming the edges of the cats' favorite napping spots. It’s quiet at first—just the soft sound of purring, paws stretching, and the occasional chirp from a curious feline who’s already up and ready to greet the day.
This is a day in the life of the cats at Ms. Kitty’s Animal Sanctuary—where every whisker, tail flick, and tiny meow matters.
7:00 AM – Morning Glows and Breakfast Bowls
With the sunlight trickling through the windows, our caregivers begin their rounds. Cats of all kinds—shy, bold, playful, regal—emerge from cozy hideaways to greet the morning with gentle blinks and winding tail hugs.
Breakfast is carefully prepared, with attention to each cat’s needs. Some enjoy grain-free kibble, others require soft food mixed with medication. Our senior kitties may have a slower start, but they’re always greeted with patient hands and warm words.
8:00 AM – Cleaning and Comfort
Cleanliness is part of keeping our cats healthy and relaxed. Litter boxes are scooped, bedding is fluffed, and fresh water is poured into bowls that catch little specks of light from the rising sun.
Cats lounge nearby, watching the process as if supervising a royal court. Some help—well, supervise—as volunteers tidy up cat towers and rearrange their favorite plush toys.
10:00 AM – Sunbeams and Playtime
By mid-morning, sunbeams stretch across the bluff and into the cat rooms. This is the golden hour—when our cats seek out that one perfect patch of warmth to sprawl, curl, or loaf in. Younger cats climb their towers, bat at dangling feathers, and pounce through tunnels with quiet delight.
Shy cats are gently encouraged to explore, offered affection on their own terms. Socialization is slow, tender work—but every blink, every soft purr, every moment of trust is a victory.
12:30 PM – Nap Patrol
After a full morning of play and exploration, the sanctuary hushes. Cats tuck into hammocks, cardboard hideouts, and windowsills with a view of the bluff. The world slows. Tummies rise and fall with deep, steady breath. A few still play, but most sleep, dreamy and safe.
2:00 PM – Health Checks and TLC
Our team quietly checks on each cat. Some need medications or special grooming, while others are recovering from recent rescues. The care is gentle, practiced, and loving. Whether it’s wiping eyes, clipping claws, or tending to wounds—every touch carries kindness.
No cat is rushed. No cry goes unanswered.
4:00 PM – Afternoon Enrichment
As the sun dips low, we bring out puzzles, catnip toys, and cardboard boxes (which always steal the show). Enrichment activities keep minds sharp and spirits high. It’s more than play—it’s healing.
Some cats are preparing for adoption, so we help them get used to human interaction, brushing, and being held. Each step is a bridge toward a forever home.
6:00 PM – Evening Peace
Dinner is served, followed by one last wander through the warm light spilling in from the bluff. Cats find their favorite nighttime spots—some together, curled in pairs; others alone, atop shelves or tucked under blankets.
The lights dim. The sanctuary settles. And in the quiet glow, you can feel the love in every corner.
Every Cat, A Story
At Ms. Kitty’s, no two cats are the same—but they all deserve safety, comfort, and care. Every day, we’re honored to be part of their stories. Some stay a little while, others longer—but each one is cherished.
